I stumbled upon Boring Cape Town Chick’s blog a few days ago when I was looking for information about the Eminem concert. It’s a very active site that mostly covers music events, but also posts up other cool event info. I went back a few pages and found out about a few events that I would have loved to have gone to, if I only I had known about them.

I wrote about the fantastic Epicene Butcher when it was first doing the rounds in Cape Town, and it’s finally back! Three shows will be taking place on the 28th of October at 8.00 pm, the 29th of October, also at 8.00 pm, and finally on the 2nd of November at 7.00 pm. Tickets are R80 each and can be booked online. Unfortunately tomorrow (Saturday 10 August) is the last day that Sadako will be showing at the Baxter Theatre, so most people who read this probably won’t get to see it before the show heads off to France. With a bit of luck it’ll return to Cape Town in the future, and if it does, you should definitely go see it.
Let me start with saying I’m not a big fan of theatre. The stories in the plays I’ve seen are usually archaic and boring, so I only tend to go when a specific show is very highly recommended. A friend of mine told me I absolutely had to go see “The Epicene Butcher and other stories for consenting adults”, and despite my initial reservations, I’m glad I did.
